His Excellency (H.E.) Volodymyr LAKOMOV, Ambassador of the Ukraine to the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan visited COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT),
Sahiwal. He was accompanied by Mr. TARAS MYKYTENKO, Second Secretary, Embassy of
Ukraine, Mr. Waseem Khokhar, Chairman, PAK - Ukraine Council for Trade, Culture
and Education.
Sh. Shahzad Ahmad Farooq, President, Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industries
(SCCI), Mr. Sohail Anjum Ansari, Former President SCCI, Sardar Zafar Ghuman, Ex
Member of SCCI, Mr. Shakeel, Mr. Siddiqui, Members of SCCI, Mr. Mohsin Chohan, Vice
President of SCCI, and Mr. Ahsan Sarwar, Member and Chairman R&D Standing Committee,
SCCI.
The delegation was welcomed at main entrance by Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Zafar, Director
Academics, Mr. Rana Adeel Abad, Deputy Registrar, Mr. Safdar Ali, Incharge Admissions
and Dr. Abrar Hussain, Incharge Department of Biosciences, CIIT Sahiwal.
His Excellency Volodymyr LAKOMOV was presented bouquet by a student of CIIT Sahiwal.
After reception, the delegation was taken to the Montgomery Museum at CIIT Sahiwal.
Mr. Mian Attique Ahmad, Secretary General, Museums Association of Pakistan /Consultant,
CIIT Sahiwal welcomed them and briefed about different section of the museum. H.E.
Volodymyr LAKOMOV taken keen interest in antiquities placed in the museum. He appreciated
the efforts of the management of CIIT Sahiwal for establishing museum in an academic
institution which will help the students to understand their culture and civilization.
While showing good gesture, H.E. Volodymyr LAKOMOV presented Joint stamp issue Pakistan-Ukraine
“Monuments of Ancient Cultures: Moen Jo Daro – Trypillia” to be placed in the museum.
After visiting Montgomery Museum, the delegation was taken to the Conference Room
where, they were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Zafar on behalf of Prof. Dr. Abdul
Waheed, Director CIIT Sahiwal (who is in on official visit to abroad). Different
Head of Departments Dr. Ghulam Hussain, Dr. Saeeda Usman, Dr. Abrar Hussain, Mr.
Rana Adeel Abad, and Mr. Safdar Ali were also among the hosts.
Dr. Nazir A. Zafar briefed the delegation about CIIT in general and CIIT Sahiwal
in particulars. Dr. Ghulam Hussain, Dr. Saeeda Usman and Dr. Abrar Hussain briefed
them about ongoing projects being funded by the foreign donor agencies i.e. USAID.
They highlighted the potential areas of mutual interests for which, collaborative
efforts can be made in future. H.E. desired to move forward and to point out the
area(s) which can be a part of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The delegation
was served with refreshment. Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Zafar, Director Academics, CIIT
Sahiwal presented Souvenir to His Excellency Volodymyr LAKOMOV. The visit ended
with group photo of delegation, hosts and students of CIIT Sahiwal.
