The COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Sahiwal arranged 3-days
Harappa International Conference (HIC) on December 18 – 20, 2016. It is part of
10 year celebration of CIIT Sahiwal Campus. The conference was attended by Prof.
Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat, Director CIIT Sahiwal, Prof. Dr. Shahid Ahmed Rajput,
Secretary Harrapa Conference Management Committee, Dr. Jonthan Mark Kenoyer, Dr.
Mery Sophie, Dr. Carla Lancelotti large number of audiences including the Archaeology
Experts from China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, USA and officials of department
of Archaeology, Govt. of Punjab , American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS),
Departments of Archaeology and History, Universities of the Punjab, Sindh, KPK and
Baluchistan.
Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat, Director CIIT Sahiwal presented the welcome address
and shared department of heritage was established two years ago in CIIT, Sahiwal.
In his speech, he assured that COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT)
will maintain his leadership role and initiate the future programs on Archaeology,
Culture and Heritage studies. He expressed his satisfaction to see the gathering
of the national and international experts in the conference and assured all possible
help of the CIIT for the promotion and protection of the National Heritage.
The Conference focusing on the theme of “Indus Civilization in the Regional Context”
which will have a long term benefits for the Students, Faculty of Social Sciences,
Scholars, Archaeologists, Artisans, Craft persons and Architects. Expert Scholars
presented their scientific research papers on Indus Civilization and cultural Heritage.
All presenters were awarded with certificates and souvenirs.
On second day of Harappa International Conference the delegates will visit Harappa
site and Museum. On third day sessions will be held in Lahore which include visit
of historical sites in Lahore.
